As this Forum shows there are many American Lithuanians living and working in the DFW area. Lithuanian language is NOT their strong suit but their pride in their Lithuanian ROOTS is 110%. So here is a proposal:.......drum roll please........do I have your attention?

A once a month Sunday social gathering on the last Sunday of each month....Is this cool or what I ask you?.....So here is the first one:

WHEN?...............May 30th (Sunday)
TIME?................9:00 am
WHERE?.............Marriott Hotel of Plano, Texas @ the COPPER GRILLE cafe for Sunday breakfast.

It is on the corner (sort of) of Legacy and Big "D" (North Dallas Tollway) in Plano.
Look for a table with American/Lithuanian flag or a guy with a cowboy hat.

This activity is a part of the LITHUANIAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY OF DALLAS or LACD...ThumbsUp

Happy trails y'll, see you there...BigGrin

2nd generation Lithuanian American checking in here. I thought San Antonio would have more Lithuanians than appears to be actively on this board. Oh well. I'm stationed over here at Ft Sam for the time being training. It'd be nice to meet some people! Hello for now.

............NOTES FROM THE "LAST SUNDAY OF THE MONTH" LITHUANIAN GATHERING AT MARRIOTT HOTEL IN PLANO..............

There were four of us: Andy, Barbara, John and me. What a great time we had. Our breakfast lasted two hours for goodness sakes, nobody wanted to leave.
Andy, or as his mother called him, ANDRIUS, was born and raised in Minersville, Pa. some 70 yrs ago. Joined the army at the end of WW2 and his crowning achievement was when he married Barbara, the best looking girl then and now, in Minersville.
Let me tell you about their son John or JONAS. In Dallas you may hear him on the radio reporting traffic from a helicopter he flies, can you believe that !!! Johns' sister is an attorney in Austin....What a nice family.

I brought a book to the breakfast called "PENSILVENIJOS ANGLIAKASIU LIETUVA", (Pennsylvanian Lithuanian Miners), loose translation. It was writen some years ago with pictures of Lithuanian churches, schools, convents and people from the 1900 to today. We took a nostalgic trip down the memory lane.

It was time to go to church....We promised to stay in touch....

PS To this day Andy suscribes to the Lithuanian Heritage magazine and his wish is for him and Barbara to visit the "Hill of Crosses" in Lithuania
