Today is Memorial Day.

Some have BBQ's, others take trips, some just rest and enjoy the long weekend. Some do that....But there are those who lay still in various parts of this world that have sacrificed it all.....the uniformed men and women of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
They sacrificed themselves for you and me and today we remember and thank them. Don't waste what they earned for you....improve it and pass it on to your children as they did.

Three 8 foot long tables, 30 chairs and a tent were occupied by Lithuanians celebrating JONINES (St. John's).
Food?.... You name it and it was there.
Drink?.... From the traditional GYRA to soda to wine to beer and there was even a bottle of champagne.

But the best part of all was the "little" people, about 7-8 played ball, swung on swings and made "little" people sounds......IT WAS GREAT!!!

People came and left till finally it all ended about 9:30 pm. We sat, we ate, we talked and we listened to Lithuanian music.

Thank you for coming, pictures are on the way and see you NEXT YEAR....Woot

Those of you who are insured by AAA and get their magazine, turn to page 48 of the November/December issue.......Okey, I'll wait till you find yours.......Found it?

The article is "Belle of the Ball", a Cowboy Christmas Ball held in ANSON, Texas.......Great article.

For those that don't get that mag, here is the story:............The ball was first held in Anson around the Civil War time and has been held annualy ever since. To participate you must wear period dress, 1880's, both men and women. No exceptions.......Then at the bottom of the article it said that people come to the dance from all over the world including LITHUANIA !!!......When asked why they came from so far away?.......They answered that they have RELATIVES LIVING HERE IN ANSON !
Fancy that! Is that not a knee slapper!

So if you live around Abiline, go to the Ansons' Pioneer Hall on December 16-18 and have a ball. For more information visit www.ansoncowboyschristmasball.com, you may meet Lithuanians ThumbsUp

PS Many years ago we visited "our" relatives that did live in Anson....But that was long, long ago........Sad
