Ms. Janina from Baltimore, Maryland (that is Yankee land) poses a difficult question, and the question is:

"IS IT WORTH TO MOVE FROM MARYLAND TO HUSTON?".......Then in her post #1 states that she would like to join us Texans and wants to know if anybody living here ever lived and moved here from Baltimore......She also want to know how we can stand the heat here...?..............She would be thankfull if someone could advise her.....

Hmmmmmm...........Huston?..........hmmm.....OH YES!!!!...Got it ThumbsUp .........This is definatelly one for Ms. Siga

Tarum tarum, heeeer's Siga....take the mike....your on kid:

PS Janina, "Geda peleda, sandi kamandi" this is an ENGLISH section of the forum Blushing

Till Ms. Siga responds I'll put in my 2 cents worth:

NEGATUVES:
If your husband HAS a job....keep it, don't risk loosing it
If the new job offer is verbal, not contractural....stay put
If relocation expenses rests on your shoulders....not good

POSITIVES:
Texas economy is better than most states
Business climate is better than most states
Housing in Texas is cheaper than Maryland
Real Estate taxes are lower (1-2 % of assesed value)
NO STATE INCOME TAX
Lots of nice, friendly Lithuanians all overSmile

But one thing one must say, the highest incomes reported are in the Washington DC area...Government jobs.

Aha, you can find Ms. Siga in "Huston" under "persikraustimas...."

Hey, what you mean by "sugedinti" huh? Those are fighting words!!! And I don't care if your husband is seven foot tall and a former boxer....Put them up (fists)...put them up...
Right Jonathon Stankievich?...

Folks, since Janina opened this topic "Ar verta persikelti is Marylando i Houston = Is it worth moving from Maryland to Huston" she received advice here, both positive and negative......This conversation will continue in Lithuanian in the HUSTONO section under the subtitle of: "Persikraustimas i Houstona = Moving to Houston"

Boy, am glad I don't live in Baltimore....it's hot and humid there though there are many Lithuanians with a church and all, and a friend of mine lives there.....but that's another story
